Vasile Botoș

The loans received from Opportunity Microcredit Romania have enabled Vasile Botoş to take significant steps in carrying out his dream of contributing with his art to the culture of the Transylvanian society.

Vasile Botoş has dedicated his life to his passion, becoming a professional wood carver. He started his business in 1991, transforming the ideas of his clients into real works of art, evoking the inter-war style. He accepted to work for both natural persons and metropolitan churches.

His business was successful, but the lack of money to purchase raw material and to build a drying room represented a real bump in the road. Without money, the business could not develop. Having a business of small dimension, no banks were interested in giving him a loan, being pessimistic of his chances of survival on the market. Opportunity Microcredit Romania saw the potential where other financial institutions saw nothing, and made sure that the artist would get a fair chance to put his ideas into practice. The clientele was growing: Vasile Botoş worked even for clients from abroad, like France or the US.

Several years have passed since the first loan to Vasile Botoş. In all these years, a partnership was formed between the artist and Opportunity Microcredit Romania. Together, they are continuously finding solutions against the whims of the modern market.

Between the elements of business, lots of creativity and the support given by Opportunity Microcredit Romania Vasile Botoş is able to build a more secure future for his children and to contribute to the cultural heritage of the region in which he lives.
